Brooklyn House Fire Leaves 6 Dead and Several Injured as Cause Remains Under Investigation

Fire Spreads Through Sunset Park Home

Four adults were pronounced dead at the scene. A man and a woman died while being taken to the hospital, bringing the death toll to six. Four residents and three firefighters suffered non-life-threatening injuries. Another victim was reported in critical condition.

Firefighters Search Damaged Building

Fire crews brought the blaze under control and remained at the scene Thursday morning. They poured water onto the building, while ladders extended above it and firefighters checked behind walls and siding for hidden fire.

The home’s front was heavily charred, and much of its exterior was destroyed. The fire displaced multiple residents, and the American Red Cross is providing temporary housing to those left homeless.

Cause Remains Under Investigation

Investigators found two lithium-ion batteries at the scene and are examining whether they played a role. The cause of the fire has not been determined. Before this fire, seven people had died in lithium-ion battery fires so far this year, including a mother and three children who died in a Bronx fire last week.
