At 27.5 Inches Tall, LEGO Officially Enters Monsterverse With 5,363-Piece Godzilla Set

A landmark LEGO Ideas model

LEGO Ideas Godzilla (21375) is the largest LEGO Ideas model released so far, with 5,363 pieces. Its design began as a submission from fan designer Matthew Esposito and took more than two years to move through the process, including reaching the 10,000-vote review threshold.

With its head lifted and Heat Ray attached, the finished model measures 27.5 inches (70 cm) tall. Textured scales, blue dorsal fins and a tail that can be posed in either direction are among its features.

Release date and included gift

The set costs $449.99 and is aimed at adult collectors. It goes on sale November 27 at 12 a.m. EST through LEGO stores and LEGO.com. While supplies last, purchasers will also receive a 359-piece gift model. It includes the Godzilla logo, a large kaiju footprint and a nod to Mothra.

Godzilla news gathers momentum

The announcement arrives around Godzilla Day, observed annually on November 3 to mark the anniversary of the original Godzilla (Gojira) film. Special IMAX screenings of Godzilla Minus Zero are also taking place ahead of the sequel’s wide release on November 6.

The LEGO set draws on Legendary and Warner Bros.’ Monsterverse portrayal of Godzilla. The article also notes that Toho’s version appears in Godzilla Minus One and Godzilla Minus Zero.

More Monsterverse projects ahead

Apple is reportedly considering a third season of Monarch: Legacy of Monsters. The next major Monsterverse crossover film, Godzilla x Kong: Supernova, is expected to release next year and is described as bringing Godzilla and Kong together against SpaceGodzilla.

The film is identified as the 40th Godzilla movie and 14th King Kong movie. Its listed stars include Dan Stevens, Kaitlyn Dever, Jack O’Connell, Alycia Debnam-Carey, Matthew Modine, Delroy Lindo and Sam Neill, in one of his final roles.
