Amazon MGM Studios Names Jenny Groom Head of Alternative

Groom joins Amazon MGM

Groom is currently executive vice president of unscripted development at BBC Studios. She will take up her new role at Amazon MGM Studios at the end of November, reporting to Jenn Levy.

Levy said Groom’s experience on both the buying and selling sides would support the studio’s unscripted ambitions and its efforts to develop and sell shows. The appointment places her in charge of MGM Alternative.

Oversight of shows and development

Groom will oversee established MGM programs Survivor, The Voice and Shark Tank. Her responsibilities also include developing new series for Prime Video and projects to license to other outlets. Levy’s team memo also said Groom would oversee the studio’s format library, which remains active around the world, and focus on developing formats and series while driving third-party sales.

Experience across unscripted TV

At BBC Studios, Groom developed and executive produced Dancing With the Stars: The Next Pro and Nation’s Dumbest. The programs had solid summer runs on ABC and Fox, while other projects under her oversight received pilot or development deals.
