Netflix’s 10/10 British Spy Thriller Officially Returns in Less Than 48 Hours With a Dangerous New Investigation

A British spy story returns

Black Doves brings viewers to the UK for another season of spy intrigue. Joe Barton, whose other shows include Giri/Haji, The Bastard Son & The Devil Himself, and The Lazarus Project, created and wrote the series.

Keira Knightley plays Helen, while Ben Whishaw plays Sam. Both characters are assassins drawn into perilous spy games. Season 2 arrives on November 5.

Strong critical response

The first season received a 92% score on Rotten Tomatoes, based on more than 70 reviews. The site’s consensus described the show as a distinctive action-thriller that successfully combines genres.

The returning season promises another action-packed story. Netflix’s current global top shows also include titles from France, South Korea and Sweden, reflecting the platform’s range of international dramas.

Helen’s secrets carry risks

Some time has passed since the events of the first season, and Helen’s situation has grown more complicated. She continues passing her nation’s secrets to the Black Doves, while her husband, Wallace, is preparing to become Prime Minister.

That betrayal could have far-reaching consequences. Andrew Buchan plays Wallace, whose political rise raises the stakes around Helen’s covert work.

Sam and Helen investigate

Sam has lost everything he loves and turns to alcohol for comfort while taking on minor hits. Whishaw’s character is brought back into Helen’s orbit when someone tries to frame Mrs Reed, her handler.

Sarah Lancashire plays Mrs Reed. Helen and Sam must uncover who is behind the setup, or risk becoming collateral damage themselves.
