Jaguars DT DaVon Hamilton Suffers Torn Quad, Officially Out For Season

Hamilton’s season ends

The Jaguars received the injury news after beating the Colts 42-7. NFL Network reported that Hamilton suffered a torn quad, and he is officially out for the season.

Hamilton’s rookie contract, worth $34.5 million, is in its final year. In seven regular-season games, he recorded 16 tackles, a forced fumble, a fumble recovery and half a sack.

A key defensive role to fill

Hamilton played a pivotal role in Jacksonville’s run defense. His absence leaves the team needing someone to take on his responsibilities for the rest of the season. After the win, Jaguars player Josh Hines-Allen said, “the next person up has big shoes to fill.” He added that the team believes its other players can get the job done.

Trade deadline adds urgency

The NFL trade deadline is Nov. 10, giving Jacksonville an opportunity to seek help at defensive tackle. The Jaguars were already looking for support on the defensive line before the deadline.

Jacksonville is 5-2 and sits first in the AFC South. Finding a suitable replacement for Hamilton will be important as the team continues its season.
