ICE: Glam sports reporter Inés Gómez Mont proposed to Brady at Super Bowl event, arrested on fraud charges

Arrest and pending proceedings
The Sun reported that ICE took Mont, 43, into custody in Miami on Friday. She was photographed in handcuffs as two agents escorted her away, wearing a white shirt, blue skirt and white sneakers.
Mont remains in US custody as immigration proceedings continue, with any formal extradition process also pending, according to the Sun. The report does not describe the next steps or give a timetable for those proceedings.
Allegations against the couple
Mont and her husband, Víctor Manuel Álvarez Puga, are accused of using shell companies, sham contracts and false invoices to obtain money from Mexico’s Interior Ministry and launder the proceeds. The alleged scheme is valued at $160 million.
Mont denies wrongdoing
In an Instagram statement in September 2021, Mont rejected the accusations against her and her husband. She said she had not stolen money or received funds from the contracts, and described herself as a television host and full-time mother.
Mont also said she was innocent and called the case an injustice. Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum reportedly characterized the couple as fraudsters and said there was substantial evidence involving allegedly fraudulent invoices used to evade taxes.
Proposal at Super Bowl Media Day
Mont became widely known after proposing to Tom Brady at the 2008 Super Bowl Media Day while wearing a wedding dress and veil. She was covering the event when she asked the then-New England Patriots quarterback to marry her. Brady declined, saying he was a “one-woman man.” He was dating Gisele Bündchen, now his ex-wife, at the time.
