After Colorado’s Win, Deion Sanders Reacts to Arizona State’s Kenny Dillingham Praise

Dillingham praises Colorado

Colorado’s overtime victory over Kansas State ended a five-game skid and showed resilience, according to Arizona State coach Kenny Dillingham. The Buffaloes remain two games below .500 at 3-5, but the win preserved their chance to pursue a bowl bid.

Speaking to reporters Nov. 2, Dillingham described Colorado as among the conference’s most competitive teams. He also praised the talent on both sides of the ball and said Sanders had assembled a good roster.

Sanders responds to praise

Asked about Dillingham’s comments, Sanders said he was focused on using Colorado’s talent effectively and putting players in situations where they could succeed. He added, “Thank God someone else pointed that out,” referring to Dillingham’s assessment. The praise came as Sanders continues to face national criticism over Colorado’s record.

Comments prompt confusion

Sanders also drew attention during the same press conference while discussing running back Richard Young, an Alabama transfer who led Colorado in rushing against Kansas State. Sanders said Young had not complained about earlier opportunities and had earned his chance.

In explaining the crowded backfield, Sanders referred to Moe, Curly and Larry, then said he could not remember the players’ names. Some fans online interpreted the remark as forgetfulness about the other backs, despite Sanders’s comments about knowing his roster’s talent.

Colorado prepares for Arizona State

Colorado has a 4-11 record against Arizona State and lost 42-17 in Boulder in November 2025. Sanders previously beat a Dillingham-coached Sun Devils team, winning 27-24 in 2023, when both coaches were in their first seasons.

Colorado can now seek its second two-game winning streak of 2026. Arizona State is 4-4 overall and 2-3 in conference play after taking No. 7 BYU close before losing 27-20 on Oct. 31.
