Mason Thames Officially Voices Robin in DC Studios’ Dynamic Duo, Set for 2028 Theaters

Thames to voice Dick Grayson

Safran told Collider that Thames had long wanted to play Grayson and came to his audition with enthusiasm. He described the actor as a fan of DC Comics.

A story about two Robins

Dynamic Duo refers to Jason Todd and Dick Grayson, Batman’s first two Robins. Safran said he believes their story offers strong material for a film. In the comics, Grayson is an orphaned circus performer, while Todd grows up on Gotham City’s streets before Batman takes him in. Few plot details have been announced, though the two are expected to begin as friends before following different paths. The film is set to open in theaters on September 22, 2028.

Swaybox brings puppetry to film

New Orleans-based Swaybox Studios is developing the film’s distinctive animation approach, blending computer imagery, stop-motion animation and real-time puppetry. Safran praised the technique and said its use of real cameras gives the action a visceral quality.

Swaybox co-founder Arthur Mintz will direct, while co-founder Theresa Anderson will produce. Safran said the production process is time-consuming, but expects future projects using the technology to move faster after the process has been developed.
