AFC contenders and Jacksonville’s rise

The Bills have the strongest odds to reach the playoffs in the AFC after starting 6-1. Last season’s AFC playoff teams were Denver, New England, Jacksonville, Pittsburgh, Houston, Buffalo and the Chargers.

Jacksonville is 5-2 and leads the AFC South with a comfortable division advantage. After beating Indianapolis, the Jaguars reached 14-3 over their past 17 regular-season games, their best such stretch since the 1999 and 2000 seasons. Their playoff odds moved from -700 to -2200.

The 49ers are 6-1 and have the best NFC playoff odds at -2800. Last year’s NFC field included Seattle, Chicago, Philadelphia, Carolina, the Rams, San Francisco and Green Bay.
