A surreal satire of borders
Straight Circle is the first feature from writer-director Oscar Hudson. It won the grand prize at Venice Film Festival Critics Week 2025 and also received Most Innovative Film, Best Director, and the Audience Award during its festival run.
The film follows two enemy soldiers stationed opposite one another in a vast desert as symbols of a fragile truce. Their boredom and hostility lead them to question their identities and loyalties, as the boundary between friend and foe becomes less clear.
Starring Elliott and Luke Tittensor and Neill Maskell, the film takes aim at nationalism and unchecked autocratic regimes. It is scheduled for a limited theatrical release on December 11.
