Deadspin | Bruins seek second straight victory when they host Golden Knights

Boston’s comeback brings relief
The Bruins erased a two-goal deficit in the third period Saturday before Elias Lindholm scored the overtime winner against Chicago. Mason Lohrei and Morgan Geekie scored in the third to force extra time, and backup goaltender Michael DiPietro earned the win.
Boston had just nine shots at the halfway point and was outshot 41-32 overall. Coach Marco Sturm said, “I know we didn't play our best, but I'll take the points.” The Bruins entered the game after road losses to Carolina and St. Louis.
Balanced scoring supports Bruins
Seventeen Bruins have scored this season, and five have at least five goals. Boston’s goaltending tandem of DiPietro and Jeremy Swayman ranks fourth in the league with a combined 2.33 goals-against average. Geekie praised Lindholm’s effort, saying he is a “200-foot player.”
Vegas seeks a reset
The Golden Knights are 9-5-1, with 19 points, after opening 8-2-0. They have since gone 1-3-1, including a 5-2 home loss to New Jersey on Friday. Vegas was outshot 32-21 against the Devils, and its 2-1 lead late in the first period did not hold. Coach Ryan Craig said the team’s need to manage the puck and defend better was evident on video. Vegas has scored more than two goals once in its last five games; its most recent win was 4-1 over Ottawa on Tuesday.
Penalty kill and lineup updates
Vegas killed both New Jersey power plays Friday, ending a run of six games in which it had allowed a power-play goal. The penalty kill is operating at 69.4%, after ranking seventh in the NHL last season.
Craig expects defenseman Dylan Coghlan to take Ville Heinola’s place. Forward Victor Olofsson, sidelined since Oct. 6 with an upper-body injury, is closer to returning and will join the road trip after skating in a non-contact jersey Saturday.
