Halloween Showdown: Everything and Clayface Could Lead to Historic Box Office Record

A close race for first

You Can See Everything, co-directed by Lance Oppenheim and Nathan Fielder, opened at No. 2 on October 16, behind Street Fighter. It recorded the strongest opening weekend for a non-concert documentary since Fahrenheit 9/11 in 2004.

The documentary remained second the following weekend, this time behind Clayface. As of Sunday morning, Variety projected a $10.5 million three-day total for You Can See Everything; Clayface was also projected at $10.5 million.

Warner Bros. called Clayface the weekend’s No. 1 film with $10.4 million, while Deadline put You Can See Everything at $10.6 million, ahead of Clayface. The final order remained unclear.

A rare third-weekend climb

A No. 1 finish would make You Can See Everything one of few modern releases to reach the top spot for the first time in its third weekend. The previous examples were Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle in 2017 and Mufasa: The Lion King in 2024.

Both earlier films opened during the Christmas season, when moviegoing can build gradually as weekly declines stay small and major new releases are scarce in early January. The last non-Christmas film to first reach No. 1 in its third weekend was Pixar’s Inside Out in 2015, after it trailed Jurassic World in its first two weekends.

Movement across the chart

Lower in the rankings, Wicker moved up from No. 5 to No. 4, while Street Fighter fell from No. 4 to No. 5. Wicker added 903 theaters and had a 92% Verified Hot audience score on Rotten Tomatoes.

All five films from the previous weekend’s top five remained on the chart, and no major new release entered that group. Christmas at the Kringles, which played on 1,825 screens, opened outside the top 10 and was expected to earn less than $1 million; its Rotten Tomatoes score was 0%.

BTS World Tour 'ARIRANG' In São Paulo: Live Viewing, shown in 1,010 theaters on October 30, was expected to reach No. 6. Indian action-comedy Aadarsha Kutumbam House No: 47 - AK47 was set to open at No. 10 after playing in 367 theaters.

Halloween weekend context

With Halloween falling on Saturday, no major new wide releases debuted. The holiday can help horror films, but the article notes that Halloween evening is typically occupied by trick-or-treating and parties rather than moviegoing.

You Can See Everything helped keep the weekend from becoming 2026’s worst so far. The projected cumulative box office was $62.2 million, the fourth-lowest weekend total of the year. The lower totals were January 23 at $42.1 million, led by Mercy; February 6 at $47.9 million, topped by Send Help; and February 20 at $61.6 million, topped by GOAT.
