Deadspin: Wizards exercise options for five players, including former No. 2 pick Alex Sarr

Five options exercised
Washington exercised fourth-year options for Sarr, guard Bub Carrington and forward Kyshawn George, all selected in the 2024 draft. Those options keep the trio with the Wizards through the 2027-28 season.
The team also picked up third-year options for guard Tre Johnson and forward Will Riley, selections in the 2025 draft. The deadline for exercising third- and fourth-year options was October 31.
Sarr’s progress and role
Sarr, the No. 2 pick in 2024, averaged 13.0 points, 6.5 rebounds and 1.5 blocks per game in 2024-25. The article reports that he then posted 16.3 points, 7.4 rebounds and 2.0 blocks per game last season.
The 7-foot center from France recorded his 200th career block Monday at Charlotte. He became the first Wizards player to reach that mark before age 22 since blocks began being tracked in the 1973-74 season.
Through six games this season, Sarr’s playing time has edged down with veteran center Anthony Davis in the fold. Davis is averaging 22.3 points per game, while Sarr is averaging 9.3.
Carrington and George
Carrington has appeared in all 170 games across three seasons. He averages 10.1 points, 4.5 assists and 3.7 rebounds over his career, and his 11 made three-pointers this season are tied with Trae Young for the team lead.
George, a 6-foot-8 forward, is averaging 15.2 points per game through six games this season. He is shooting 45.9% from the floor.
