Netflix’s 6-Episode Supernatural Thriller Miniseries Could Be the Perfect Harlan Coben Replacement

A love triangle grows complicated

Created by Steve Lightfoot and based on Sarah Pinborough’s novel, Behind Her Eyes introduces Louise Barnsley, played by Simona Brown, as a single mother drawn into a relationship with her boss, Dr. David Ferguson, played by Tom Bateman. Louise also develops a friendship with David’s wife, Adele, portrayed by Eve Hewson.

Louise finds herself balancing her secret relationship with David and her growing closeness to Adele. As she gets to know them, she questions David’s controlling behavior and Adele’s erratic actions. Adele also introduces Louise to lucid dreaming and astral projection.

Past events deepen the mystery

Flashbacks reveal a dangerous relationship between Adele and Rob Hoyle, played by Robert Aramayo, whom she knew from a psychiatric facility. The series gradually complicates the apparent roles of victim and antagonist, encouraging viewers to reconsider what they see.

Louise is portrayed as a struggling single mother looking for a way beyond her past, while Adele’s history suggests a marked difference between her earlier and present selves. David’s apparent role as a potential antagonist also remains uncertain.

Twists reshape the story

The show builds toward a final act that changes how earlier events can be understood. Viewers who pay close attention may find clues that make a return to the beginning worthwhile.

The relationship-focused drama eventually shifts into supernatural thriller territory, moving beyond the conventions of a domestic mystery. Brown’s performance brings warmth and vulnerability to Louise, including in scenes with her son, Adam, played by Tyler Howitt; Bateman adds tension as David.
