Attack on Titan’s 17-Year Journey Returns: The New Project Is Just 1 Month Away

A new way to revisit the story
Attack on Titan first appeared in Bessatsu Shonen Magazine in September 2009. Though the anime ended in November 2023, the franchise is returning through a game that lets players take part in major battles.
Announced at Summer Game Fest in June, Attack on Titan 3 features a new opening sequence by MAPPA. Arifumi Imai, known for his action animation on the franchise, is directing it. Players can use Omni-Directional Mobility gear in battles drawn from the series.
A lengthy campaign ahead
Koei Tecmo and Omega Force plan to release the console version on December 10, 2026, and the PC version on December 9. Digital Deluxe Edition pre-orders include early access beginning December 7.
The game adapts all 34 manga volumes, from the fall of Wall Maria through the Rumbling. Producer Hideo Suzuki said at Tokyo Game Show 2026 that the main campaign should take about 30 to 40 hours; optional content could bring a completionist run to roughly 60 or 70 hours.
The article compares that campaign estimate with God of War Ragnarök’s 26-hour story and Grand Theft Auto V’s 32-hour campaign. It also says the game takes longer to finish than watching all 94 anime episodes back-to-back.
New battles and scouting missions
Earlier games covered the first season and then the story through the Scouts’ arrival at the ocean. Attack on Titan 3 will rebuild the early arcs, rather than use slideshow cutscenes, and continue into the Final Season.
Exterior Scouting Missions asks players to build supply bases beyond the walls and manage limited ODM gas and blade durability. Squad members can die permanently while players reclaim territory. Save data from Attack on Titan 2 also brings bonuses.
