3 76ers Studs Shine, 1 Dud Struggles in Hornets Victory

Maxey Takes Charge

Tyrese Maxey scored a season-best 38 points in Charlotte, including 15 in the fourth quarter. He also recorded four rebounds and four assists as Philadelphia secured the win without Embiid and James.

After earning his first Second Team All-NBA selection last season, Maxey has continued his strong form. He has emerged as the team’s leading scoring option, and this was his most impressive outing so far this season.

Simons Adds Bench Scoring

Anfernee Simons contributed 19 points and two assists in 25 minutes against the Hornets. He has supplied a scoring lift in each of Philadelphia’s past three games. Simons scored 19, 21 and 20 points across those contests, making at least five three-pointers each time. His perimeter shooting and production give the 76ers another scoring option off the bench.

Walker Returns Productively

Jabari Walker returned after sitting out three games with a knee injury. He played 19 minutes and finished with 12 points and six rebounds. Two of Walker’s rebounds came on offense. His return offered help to a Philadelphia frontcourt described as thin.

Brown Has Room to Improve

Brown finished with 16 points, four rebounds, four assists and two steals. He also committed three turnovers, went 0-for-2 from three-point range and made six of 15 shots overall.

With Embiid and James sidelined, Brown might have been expected to take on more of the scoring burden. At times he appeared out of rhythm and forced shots, leaving room for improvement in future games when Philadelphia is short-handed.
