Forget Captain America: Anthony Mackie’s Brutal Crime Epic Is Officially Streaming Free on Plex
Detroit arrives on Plex
Starting November 1, viewers can stream Detroit for free on Plex. The 2017 film was directed by Kathryn Bigelow, who went on to make another movie eight years later.
Set in 1967, Detroit impressed critics with its race-related drama. The cast includes Mackie, Jason Mitchell, Kaitlyn Dever, Will Poulter and John Boyega.
A different role for Mackie
Mackie led Captain America: Brave New World, which received widespread criticism. Collider reviewer Aidan Kelley rated it 4/10 and described it as “one of the weakest entries in the decades-spanning franchise.” The film earned $415 million worldwide against a reported production budget of $180 million. The article characterizes that box-office result as poor for an MCU film.
A crowded MCU event ahead
Mackie is among the actors associated with the MCU who are expected in Doomsday, due December 18. The Russo Brothers have promised a tonal shift from earlier Marvel movies.
The announced names include Robert Downey Jr. as Doctor Doom, alongside Vanessa Kirby, Pedro Pascal, Chris Hemsworth, Tom Hiddleston and Florence Pugh.
