Noah Wyle Claims This A-List Comedian Cursed Him Out as Child

A childhood meeting with Murphy
On Amy Poehler’s Good Hang podcast, Wyle recounted meeting Eddie Murphy when he was 9. Murphy was appearing on Saturday Night Live at the time, and Wyle asked him for an autograph after saying he enjoyed the show. Wyle said Murphy asked why he was awake so late. After a nervous laugh, Wyle asked again; he said Murphy responded, “F*** off, man.”
The encounter shaped his habit
Wyle said the rejection stayed with him and influenced how he treats young fans who ask for his autograph. He now signs quickly whenever a 9-year-old makes the request.
The actor, who stars in The Pitt, shared the story while discussing the moment with Poehler. He is 55 and was recently named People’s Sexiest Man Alive, according to the report.
A daughter’s playful replacement
Wyle said his daughter Frances made him a framed substitute autograph for his birthday last year. She printed a picture of Murphy and added a note addressed to Wyle, signing it as the comedian.
Wyle described the gift as especially meaningful because Frances invented a story to present it: she told him she and her mother had seen Murphy and obtained the autograph he had always wanted. Frances is now 11, though Wyle also referred to her as 10 when describing the birthday gift.
Wyle’s family and The Pitt
Wyle shares Frances with his wife, Sarah Wyle. He also has a 23-year-old son, Owen, and a daughter, Auden, with his ex, Tracy Warbin. HBO recently released the first trailer for season 3 of The Pitt.
