Google Home rolling out Nest, Matter, energy-saving improvements and key fixes

A broad Home update
Google’s October 29 changelog describes a substantial set of changes for its Home ecosystem. Many of them are available directly in the Google Home app, including improvements for Nest Cam owners and Matter devices.
The update also includes firmware for several home products, among them Chromecast with Google TV. Google is rolling out the changes now.
Matter devices get clearer controls
On Home for Android, compatible Matter devices can now show energy information. Matter-connected closures also receive device-specific icons and controls rather than a generic gate display. The recognized types include garage doors, gates, windows, blinds and cabinets. The change is intended to make each device’s presentation in the app better match what it is.
Shortcuts and fixes included
Thermostat controls gain one-tap shortcuts aimed at helping people reduce energy use during colder months. The update also brings a collection of fixes and improvements for Gemini for Home.
Google says firmware updates are also being released for home devices, including Chromecast with Google TV and Nest Wifi Pro. Users can check for the latest Google Home app version on Android and iOS.
