Three outs from title, Rays stun Brewers with rally in 12th inning to force World Series Game 5

Late rally changes the game
Liam Hicks, Jonny DeLuca, Chandler Simpson and pinch-hitter Ben Williamson then delivered consecutive singles against rookie Shane Drohan. DeLuca and Williamson drove in runs as Tampa Bay secured a 4-3 victory.
Rays keep fighting
The late rally ended a stretch in which Milwaukee’s bullpen, led by Aaron Ashby’s seven outs, had combined for seven scoreless innings. Tampa Bay’s win kept the team alive and sent the Series to Game 5.
“We’ve got a lot of fight in us,” Simpson said. Williamson described the team’s approach as continuing to fight through the season and the Series. The Rays became the fifth of 26 teams to win Game 4 after trailing 3-0 in the World Series. Each of the previous four teams lost Game 5.
Players reflect on pressure
“Sometimes the game tests you,” Brewers captain Christian Yelich said, describing the loss as part of the team’s journey and experience. Murphy said each side had opportunities go its way on different nights.
Williamson said playing in that moment was what players dream of. DeLuca said the Rays had been playing freely and called their position a special opportunity. The game lasted 4 hours, 20 minutes and ended at 12:28 a.m. Williamson’s hit was the first walk-off pinch-hit in extra innings in a World Series since Gene Larkin’s Game 7 single for Minnesota in 1991.
