A 12th-inning rally lets Rays stun Brewers, force World Series Game 5 with a 2-run comeback

Milwaukee takes late lead
The Brewers were closing in on a sweep and their first World Series title. David Hamilton also homered for Milwaukee, while Jackson Chourio collected a single and a double.
Tampa Bay answers in the 12th
The Rays began their comeback after third baseman Joey Ortiz made a throwing error on Junior Caminero’s leadoff grounder. Liam Hicks singled against Shane Drohan, who was making his first appearance since Oct. 15.
DeLuca then singled to center, scoring pinch-runner Cedric Mullins and tying the game. Chandler Simpson’s single loaded the bases, and Williamson—batting for Victor Mesa Jr.—hit a chopper into right field to bring home the winning run.
A comeback with history
The Rays also became the fifth of 26 teams that had fallen behind 3-0 in a World Series to win Game 4. The previous four all lost Game 5. Across best-of-seven postseason matchups, only the 2004 Boston Red Sox had overcome a 3-0 deficit to win the series.
Game 5 set for Wednesday
Game 5 is scheduled for Wednesday night at Tropicana Field. Jacob Misiorowski is set to start for Milwaukee, while Rays manager Kevin Cash said he had not chosen a starter.
Caminero left the field with an ailing left foot after Mullins replaced him at third base, but Caminero said he would play Wednesday. The win snapped Milwaukee’s eight-game winning streak.
