Live: Apple event today as touchscreen MacBook Pro is expected during final day, after iPad mini 8 and iMac announced
What Apple has announced
Apple has made three key announcements over the past two days: the iPad mini 8, iMac M6 and MacBook Pro M6. The event is now entering its final day. The live coverage is following announcements, leaks and rumors, alongside updates from the team at the Apple event in Los Angeles.
Touchscreen MacBook expectations
Apple may unveil an OLED MacBook Pro with a touchscreen today, according to the report. The possibility is being described as a major shift in how people use the laptop.
The expected announcement remains uncertain. The report says the company may have saved its biggest news for the final day, if the leaks are accurate.
Questions about MacBook design
A touchscreen MacBook Pro could require changes to macOS to support a new way of interacting with the computer. The report also raises the possibility of structural adjustments, such as a stronger hinge.
The prospect recalls Steve Jobs’ earlier comments about touch controls on a notebook. The report says touchscreen controls on premium laptops are now widely assumed, while noting that Apple’s approach would be worth watching.
