Low approval shadows Trump as he heads to Texas; tight Senate race spells trouble

Two Texas rallies planned
Trump is set to appear in Corpus Christi at 3 p.m. ET, followed by a rally in Lubbock scheduled for 7 p.m. ET. The events are part of a broader campaign push. In recent weeks, Trump has visited Florida, Georgia, Mississippi, Texas and Nebraska to support Republican candidates, including in races previously viewed as safe for them.
Polls raise midterm concerns
Trump has repeatedly asked supporters to imagine that he is on the ballot in the November 3 midterms. A Politico poll released last week found Democratic voters more motivated to vote against him than Republicans were to support him and GOP candidates. House Speaker Mike Johnson disputed forecasts of major Republican losses. Speaking to Fox News on Monday evening, Johnson argued that Republicans may be less willing to take part in surveys, describing the issue as “partisan nonresponse bias.”
Remarks and rally disruptions
Trump’s recent appearances have included odd remarks and mistakes, including comments about women’s bodies and confusion over the names of two prizes he did not win. The episodes have prompted social media users to question his health.
Several rallies have also been interrupted by protesters. At an October 12 event in Ohio, a woman wearing a shirt calling for the release of the Epstein files was assaulted by Trump supporters; Trump made a joke about her weight. Demonstrators also interrupted events in Kansas on October 19 and Mississippi on October 26.
