Threatening allegations involving New York Times reporter’s child denied by socialite author Amy Griffin

Dispute follows Times investigation

Rosman’s September 2025 story questioned whether Griffin’s recollections of sexual abuse, which Griffin says emerged after experimental MDMA treatments, resembled a former classmate’s experiences. The classmate described the accounts in “The Tell” as “eerily similar” to her own memories of their school in Amarillo, Texas.

After the story appeared, the classmate sued Griffin. Griffin, who is married to hedge fund billionaire John Griffin, filed a countersuit alleging defamation.

Alleged remarks at Aspen retreat

Semafor reported that Griffin spoke about Rosman at Ari Emanuel’s annual Aspen retreat, held the weekend the Times story was published. According to the report, Griffin said Rosman had made life difficult for her and her children and that she intended to do the same to Rosman’s son.

Griffin’s representative denies claims

Griffin’s representatives told Page Six that she had never threatened Rosman’s children or taken steps to harm the reporter or her family. A spokesperson said Griffin was upset after friends of her daughter discussed the Times investigation in a group chat, hurting the daughter’s feelings.

The spokesperson said Griffin had expressed those feelings to a friend at an event after the story appeared, and that her words were later mischaracterized. The representative also denied that Griffin contacted anyone at a school about Rosman’s children.

Social ties and other allegations

The controversy is testing Griffin’s social circle. One insider said some people wanted distance from her, while others remained supportive. Griffin is an investor in celebrity businesses including Gwyneth Paltrow’s Goop and Reese Witherspoon’s Hello Sunshine.
