Leavitt Earns SEC Honor After Career-High Performance Powers LSU Past Auburn

Career highs at Auburn

Leavitt totaled 432 yards in LSU’s 38-17 victory, including a personal best 387 passing yards. He completed 32 of 45 attempts and threw three touchdowns, while adding a rushing score.

One second-quarter play covered 70 yards: Leavitt connected with Jackson Harris for a touchdown. His four scores helped earn him SEC Offensive Player of the Week recognition for the week of Oct. 26.

A turnaround in progress

Leavitt had thrown eight interceptions across his first six games for LSU. Since the Tigers’ 35-34 defeat at Kentucky, however, he has put together consecutive games without an interception.

He also had 31 completions against Mississippi State the week before Auburn. That made him the second quarterback in LSU history to record at least 30 completions in back-to-back games.

Numbers and team context

Leavitt has 2,173 passing yards this season, tied for fifth nationally. His 17 passing touchdowns are tied for 13th in the FBS, and he ranks fourth in points responsible for, with 152.

His completion percentage stands at 70.3, ranking 12th in the nation. LSU’s first road win since Aug. 30, 2025, was also its first road victory over an SEC opponent since Oct. 19, 2024.

A broader offensive test ahead

LSU’s defense ranks fourth nationally in total defense, and the Tigers have averaged 192 rushing yards per game. Leavitt’s Auburn showing suggested the offense could complement those strengths with more production through the air.

The return of Trey'Dez Green added to expectations for LSU’s offense. With the toughest stretch of its SEC schedule still ahead, the team will look for Leavitt to maintain confidence in his passing game.
