Inside the Brewers’ Historic Eight-Run World Series Inning

A rally built with two outs

The Brewers began their surge after Booser entered with two outs and the bases loaded. Brice Turang’s single brought Jackson Chourio and Christian Yelich home, giving Milwaukee its first two runs of the inning.

Garrett Mitchell followed with a hit that scored William Contreras. Cooper Pratt then doubled, bringing Turang and Mitchell across the plate.

Doubles kept the scoring going

Sal Frelick’s double sent Pratt home, extending the rally. Chourio added another double to score Frelick and record his fourth hit of the game. Jake Bauers’ flyout finally ended the inning. Mitchell also scored on Pratt’s double, while the Brewers completed their eight-run outburst without hitting a home run.

The inning’s place in history

Milwaukee’s eight runs tied the World Series mark for a single inning without a homer. The 2001 Arizona Diamondbacks and the 1921 New York Giants had previously reached that total, in games against the Yankees.
