Demon Slayer’s 13 Hashira Ranked: From Weakest to Strongest

The Hashira and their styles
The Hashira serve as the Demon Slayer Corps’ strongest line of defense against the Twelve Kizuki. Each has mastered a distinct Breathing Style and developed a personal approach to combat.
Their abilities vary: some depend on physical power or swordsmanship, while others use specialized methods to make up for limitations. The account names three Hashira and former Hashira but does not rank all 13.
Shinobu Kocho’s poison strategy
Shinobu Kocho is the active Insect Hashira and the only known practitioner of Insect Breathing. Her older sister, Kanae Kocho, previously held the rank of Hashira before dying several years before the anime’s timeline.
Unable to rely on raw strength, Shinobu uses a wisteria-based extract to kill demons. Her specially designed sword lets her stab opponents and inject the poison, targeting their bloodstream.
Her approach has troubled even Upper Moons, but it has a weakness: demons with extraordinary regenerative abilities can withstand poison more effectively. Doma, in particular, has an advantage against her strategy.
Earlier Hashira and their legacies
Shinjuro Rengoku, the former Flame Hashira, trained his sons Kyojuro and Senjuro. After his wife died, he became a drunkard and neglected his family; he also dismissed Kyojuro’s achievement when his son became Flame Hashira.
Shinjuro later mourns Kyojuro’s death and apologizes to Tanjiro. The account suggests Shinjuro’s insecurity and failure to continue developing his skills held him back, while Flame Breathing proved effective in Kyojuro’s hands.
Kanae Kocho served as the Flower Hashira. She died fighting Doma, Upper Rank Two, and her brief ability to face him demonstrated her skill. Her adopted sister, Kanao Tsuyuri, carries on Flower Breathing, and Kanae’s spirit later encourages Shinobu during the final battle.

- Kanao Tsuyuri carries on the legacy of Kanae Kocho’s Flower Breathing.
