What Ana Huang Would Change About Twisted Love—and What’s Next for Upcoming Adaptations, Gods of the Game

Two adaptations in development
Twisted Love was not Huang’s first book, but its 2021 success brought her wider attention. Netflix has picked up the series for an adaptation. Amazon MGM has acquired Gods of the Game for a film trilogy. Both adaptations remain in development, and no release dates have been confirmed.
The Keeper closes the series
Set against the approaching World Cup, The Keeper is due out October 27. It is the third and final Gods of the Game book and follows goalkeeper Noah Wilson.
Noah needs a nanny for his daughter and hires Carina Vu, who is trying to rebuild her savings after an emergency wiped out her account. The story brings them together through a nanny-and-employer romance involving a single father and forbidden attraction.
Why Huang chose three books
Huang described sports romance as a departure from her usual work and said she wanted to explore found family while challenging herself creatively. She said the series was conceived as a trilogy, with each book connected to a different football position.
Writing Noah’s 11-year-old daughter was also a new challenge for Huang. She said she used her 12-year-old cousin as a reference when considering how the child might speak and behave, and noted that a single-parent romance involves the child as well as the couple.
