Muslim Brotherhood charge: Trump attacks Sayed over faith during Michigan rally, calls him a member

Trump targets El-Sayed

At the Port Huron rally, Trump said he wanted to prevent a Muslim Brotherhood member from becoming a U.S. senator. His remarks focused on El-Sayed’s faith and alleged association with the group. Earlier this month, a man at a town hall in Caro asked El-Sayed if he would disavow the Muslim Brotherhood. El-Sayed replied, “absolutely.”

Trump backs John James

Trump voiced support for Republican gubernatorial candidate John James during the rally. He said James would “fight for jobs” and “lower prices.” Michigan Democratic Party Chair Curtis Hertel criticized Republicans who attended with Trump. Hertel said Mike Rogers, James and Michigan Republicans were endorsing and prepared to support what he called Trump’s “toxic agenda.”

El-Sayed appears with Sanders

El-Sayed attended a separate rally with Sen. Bernie Sanders on Sunday evening. The event took place at DeVos Performance Hall in Grand Rapids. A CBS News poll found Democrats remained buoyed by voters’ economic concerns. It also found that many voters did not believe either party had a plan.
