Samsung Switch 2-ready MicroSD Express card sale: 256GB now less than $50

Two storage sizes discounted

The 256GB Samsung P9 costs $47.99 at Amazon and B&H Photo. It usually sells for around $80. The 512GB version is $99 at both retailers, compared with its typical price range of $150 to $200.

Both options cost more than they did at launch. The article attributes that increase likely to an ongoing memory shortage.

Built for demanding games

The P9 is a MicroSD Express card intended to expand Nintendo Switch 2 storage. Its sequential read speed reaches up to 800MB/s, but devices need a MicroSD Express slot to take full advantage of the top speeds. Certain cameras, tablets and drones are also mentioned as compatible devices.

First-party Switch 2 games generally use 10GB to 30GB. The upcoming The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake is 27GB, while Cyberpunk 2077 takes 60GB.

More devices support Express

Until recently, the Switch 2 was among the few devices that could use the MicroSD Express standard. This year’s Asus ROG Ally X20 also added support. The Ally X20 is described as an expensive gaming handheld running Windows 11, with versatility that is difficult to find elsewhere.
