Overreaction Monday: Are the Chiefs No Super Bowl Contender While Steelers Look Legit?

Chiefs stumble against Seattle

Kansas City managed 257 yards, 11 first downs and three conversions on 11 third-down attempts against Seattle. The offense did not reach the red zone during its eight possessions, raising doubts about the Chiefs after a schedule described as one of the league’s easiest.

The Chiefs were missing starting tackles Josh Simmons and Jaylon Moore, as well as receivers Rashee Rice and Tyquan Thornton. Travis Kelce did not make up for those absences, and Patrick Mahomes finished with 165 passing yards and an interception.

Mahomes has thrown an interception in consecutive games and in three of his last four. He has not thrown a touchdown in the two weeks since Kansas City’s bye.

Packers need more support

Jordan Love completed 60% of his passes for 274 yards, two touchdowns and an interception in Green Bay’s loss to Detroit. The Packers managed only 60 rushing yards, even with Josh Jacobs active after missing the first six games.

Micah Parsons is expected to return soon from knee surgery that ended his 2025 season early. His return could strengthen a defense that, under coordinator Jonathan Gannon, shut down Dallas two weeks ago. Coach Matt LaFleur still needs to find a way to raise the offense to Love’s level if Green Bay is to win the NFC North.

Giants win behind ground game

J.J. McCarthy completed 20 of 28 passes for 252 yards without a touchdown or interception as the Giants won in overtime on the road against Houston. Five completions gained at least 20 yards, and he led seven drives into Texans territory.

New York improved to 4-2-1 and matched its 2025 win total of four. McCarthy had thrown for 243 yards and a touchdown in limited action against New Orleans in Week 6 before coach John Harbaugh named him the starter.

Skattebo ran for 127 yards, including a 42-yard gain that helped set up the overtime finish. Devin Singletary scored the winning touchdown on a 30-yard run, and the Giants totaled 188 rushing yards.

Rodgers keeps Steelers level

Aaron Rodgers, 42, completed 19 of 30 passes for 212 yards, one touchdown and no interceptions as Pittsburgh remained tied atop the AFC North. He connected with seven different receivers.
