Winds cut tournament to 54 holes; austin smotherman wins butterfield bermuda championship in monday playoff, golf title No. 2 this month

Winds cut tournament short
Gusts of up to 40 mph disrupted play at the Butterfield Bermuda Championship at Port Royal Golf Course. With conditions still severe Sunday, the PGA Tour called off the final round.
None of the 72 players still in the field started their fourth round. The 2026 tournament therefore ended after 54 holes, but the winner was not yet decided.
Tied leaders return Monday
Austin Smotherman and Seamus Power were tied at 16 under, sending the pair to a sudden-death playoff. They returned to Port Royal on Monday morning to settle the title.
The playoff began at 8 a.m. local time, or 9 a.m. ET. Smotherman won on its third hole, edging Power.
Second tour win this month
The Bermuda title was Smotherman’s second PGA Tour victory this month. He had previously won the Bank of Utah Championship. The playoff result completed a tournament shaped by the weather and left Smotherman as the champion after three rounds of regulation play.
