How GitHub competitor Entire makes its agent-first platform work for faster coding teams | ZDNET

A platform for agent-driven coding
AI has increased the pace of software development and changed what teams need from their tools. Entire says its platform is built to meet those demands as coding agents produce more code.
The service runs on Entire’s decentralized Git network, announced in July. The company designed the network to handle increased AI coding activity, which it says has contributed to mounting GitHub outages.
Entire describes itself as an alternative to GitHub for teams that need to merge changes at the pace agents create them. Developers can create, migrate and host private repositories across several locations, including the US, India, Australia and the EU.
Trails replace pull requests
Instead of conventional pull requests, Entire uses a feature called Trails. The company says Trails present agent-scored evaluations for each code push in a display designed to help developers monitor progress.
Trail data is available through Entire’s website and its open-source CLI. Agents can address findings in repeated cycles, while a developer checks their progress; when evaluations are met, the code can be merged without reviewing every line, according to the company.
Thomas Dohmke said Trails treat the idea, agent trace and session outcome as reviewable items alongside code. He said multiple agents generate evaluations to check AI-written code.
Hosting speed and session memory
Entire claims its Git hosting is up to 89 times faster than GitHub and six times faster than Cursor origin. Those figures are the company’s claims, attributed to its decentralized network.
The platform also includes Continuous Memory, which stores developer session logs alongside repository code. Entire says agents can search this material and use up to 71% fewer tokens. The feature combines a codebase graph with what Entire calls an “agentic brain.” The company says prior sessions and prompts can help agents avoid repeating earlier mistakes.
Key points
- Entire is now available and was founded by former GitHub CEO Thomas Dohmke.
- Trails replace pull requests with agent-scored evaluations of code changes.
- Entire claims hosting up to 89 times faster than GitHub and six times faster than Cursor origin.
- Continuous Memory stores session logs beside code; Entire says it can cut agents’ token use by up to 71%.
