In Ohio, Obama attacks Trump as he campaigns for Democrats ahead of midterm elections

Obama focuses on costs and war
Speaking in Cleveland on Saturday, Obama faulted Trump and members of his cabinet over consumer prices and the conflict with Iran. He called for greater accountability from the administration.
Obama said he understood why some voters chose not to support Democrats in 2024, citing economic pressures and inflation after the Covid pandemic. He argued that prices had continued to rise since Trump took office.
Ohio candidates receive support
Obama travelled to Ohio to back former Senator Sherrod Brown, who is challenging Republican Senator John Husted. He also campaigned for Amy Acton, the Democratic candidate for governor opposing Republican Vivek Ramaswamy.
At an afternoon rally, Obama criticized Trump’s White House renovation efforts and attacked an advertisement involving Acton. He said Trump would cross any line to attract attention.
Trump votes and discusses Iran
Trump cast an early ballot in Florida and was due to travel to Georgia later on Saturday for a rally supporting Republican candidates. Asked about the Iran war, he said the United States would win whether he ended the conflict or reached a deal. Trump has faced pressure to bring down oil prices, which have risen amid the wars in Iran and Ukraine. Asked whether Melania Trump would visit Ukraine, he replied, “we will see.”
