Matt Damon’s Star-Studded Epic Officially Makes a Major Streaming Comeback With Contagion

Damon takes the leading role
After appearing in ensemble casts for Christopher Nolan’s Interstellar and Oppenheimer, Matt Damon leads the director’s adaptation of Homer’s The Odyssey. The film also features Tom Holland, Jon Bernthal and Zendaya.
A record-setting theatrical run
The Odyssey earned more than $1.7 billion worldwide and became the world’s 11th highest-grossing film of all time. It is also Nolan’s biggest movie, surpassing The Dark Knight and The Dark Knight Rises. As the film’s theatrical success fades from view, attention has shifted to another Damon movie: Contagion, Steven Soderbergh’s 2011 pandemic thriller.
Contagion finds new viewers
Contagion is now the second-most-viewed movie on HBO Max worldwide. Its portrayal of a viral pandemic has taken on a new sense of realism following events in 2020.
The film also stars Jude Law, Gwyneth Paltrow, Laurence Fishburne and Marion Cotillard. It earned $137 million at the box office in 2011, and has since become a major streaming hit again.
