Prime Video’s first Fallout spin series officially debuts trailer for $1 million Vault-Tec competition

A new Fallout competition

Prime Video is extending the Fallout universe with a reality contest called Fallout Shelter: The Experiment. The series was developed by Studio Lambert, a producer of Squid Game: The Challenge, alongside Kilter Films.

Contestants will compete inside one of Vault-Tec’s advanced shelters. The challenges are described as high-intensity drills, psychological dilemmas and trials involving difficult moral choices, with $1 million going to the winner.

Teaser reveals its launch date

The brief teaser offers little detail about the format. It shows a message arriving on a Pip-Boy that signals the world’s end and the start of a competition.

Prime Video shared the preview for Fallout Day and confirmed the series will premiere on January 13, 2027. The release date gives viewers a first look at the project’s timeline, while leaving the competition itself largely unrevealed.

Expanding the franchise

The contest broadens the screen world beyond the stories of Lucy, The Ghoul and Maximus. The adaptation draws on the post-apocalyptic role-playing games developed by Interplay Entertainment and Bethesda.

The article reports that the first two seasons together earned more than 100 million views and rave reviews. Fallout Shelter: The Experiment is planned ahead of the series’ third season, which is expected next year.
