Basketball game altercation precedes Britt McHenry’s resignation from State Department press adviser role

McHenry had been appointed to the press adviser role the previous month. A department official declined to discuss her departure, calling it an internal personnel matter. ABC News said it was unable to reach McHenry immediately. Page Six first reported that she had left the position.

Before joining the State Department, McHenry worked as a reporter for ESPN. In 2015, the network suspended her for one week after a video of her berating a towing-company clerk went viral.
