Idaho Prosecutor Seeking Death Penalty in Twin Toddlers’ Deaths; Mother Blamed Vaccines

Capital punishment sought

A grand jury indicted Shaw in July on two counts of first-degree murder, according to court records and a Payette Police Department statement. An Idaho prosecutor is now pursuing the death penalty in connection with the twins’ 2025 deaths. In a court filing, Sirucek listed four factors the state says support capital punishment: multiple murders, especially cruel or heinous killings, utter disregard for human life, and a likelihood Shaw would remain a threat to society.

Defense disputes grand jury process

Filicetti said pathologists who examined the twins also determined their causes of death were undetermined. He argued the prosecutor should have presented evidence that could point to explanations other than murder, saying, “A prosecutor has a duty of candor,” in remarks to KBOI.

Vaccine-related public activity

A few days after the twins died, Shaw appeared on an internet program produced by Children’s Health Defense, an anti-vaccine group founded by Robert F. Kennedy Jr. Kennedy resigned as the group’s chairman in December 2024 when he joined President Donald Trump’s administration.
