VisionQuest Makes Major Strides With a Game-Changing Episode 3 Cliffhanger Review

A Dangerous Escape

After their narrow escape from Paladin at the end of Episode 2, Tommy and Vision remain in danger. Vision tells Tommy that his injuries are “mildly fatal,” while the AIs try to stop his power leak and honor Jarvis’ sacrifice.

Paladin is also badly hurt, but he dismisses his handler’s suggestion that he retire. Instead, he orders her to use drones to track the signature Vision is leaving behind.

A Difficult Family Conversation

Vision uses part of their car to cauterize his wound, while Tommy tries to start an honest conversation. Vision resists, saying that any connection between them as father and son comes from Wanda, not him.

At a rundown hotel, Tommy is unsettled by an advertisement for the swimming pool and watches old television shows to calm himself. Vision considers explaining Westview but worries that the truth will make Tommy grieve a life he never had.

Memories and New Powers

Tommy says he has read about Vision and Wanda in a book, but doesn’t understand how he could be their son. Vision tells him his memories are not real and were created from his longing for family and what he read.

Tommy storms out. The scene is revealed to be one of Vision’s imagined attempts to find the right words; Ultron advises him to offer comfort, but Vision cannot work out how.

In the hallway, Tommy’s snack gets stuck in a vending machine. As he hits the glass, his hand passes through it without breaking the screen, and his powers activate.
