A Beautiful Mind, Russell Crowe’s Best Movie of All Time, Officially Returns to Theaters Nov. 22–23

A second Crowe film arrives
Crowe has two new movies out in October 2026: Unabomber, which is streaming on Netflix, and The Weight, his latest theatrical feature. The Weight, directed by Padraic McKinley in his debut, also stars Ethan Hawke and has received positive reviews from critics.
Another Crowe film is scheduled for theaters before the year ends. A Beautiful Mind will screen for two nights as part of Fathom Entertainment’s annual Big Screen Classics series.
A celebrated role and film
In A Beautiful Mind, Crowe portrays mathematician John Nash and his lifelong struggle with schizophrenia. The 2001 docudrama earned Crowe an Academy Award nomination for Best Actor, but he lost to Denzel Washington for Training Day.
The film won four Oscars: Best Picture, Best Director, Best Adapted Screenplay and Best Supporting Actress. Its worldwide box office exceeded $300 million, against a reported budget of $60 million.
Two nights in November
The theatrical return is set for November 22 and 23, nearly 25 years after the film premiered in December 2001. The screenings are part of the 2026 edition of Fathom Entertainment’s Big Screen Classics film series.
Crowe has received three Academy Award nominations and won once, taking Best Actor for playing Maximus Decimus Meridius in Ridley Scott’s Gladiator (2000). He earned another nomination for A Beautiful Mind the following year.
