A relationship enters view

Swift’s first Chiefs game helped confirm rumors that she and Kelce were dating. She told Time that Kelce had mentioned her on his podcast, and they began spending time together afterward.

At MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey, Swift and Blake Lively watched Kansas City beat the New York Jets. Swift had performed three sold-out concerts at the venue a few months earlier. Swift told Time, “I’m just there to support Travis.” NFL commissioner Roger Goodell has linked her presence to increased interest among female fans, while the article also credits her new football following with boosting merchandise sales and attracting more women viewers.

Joining Chiefs game-day crowds

Swift cheered alongside Kelce’s mother, Donna Kelce, during a home game against the Denver Broncos. Before her third game-day appearance, Kelce said the NFL was “overdoing it” with its coverage of Swift, especially in his case.

She later watched Kansas City beat the Los Angeles Chargers shortly before the release of “1989 (Taylor’s Version).” In Green Bay, Wisconsin, she wore a black turtleneck and red teddy coat. Swift also became friends with Brittany Mahomes, who is married to Kelce’s teammate. During the South American leg of the Eras Tour in November 2023, Kelce flew to Buenos Aires to see her perform, and she gave him an onstage shout-out.

Family, fashion and road games

Swift bought a 1990s sweatshirt from Westside Storey, a secondhand clothing boutique in Kansas City. When she wore one of the shop’s pieces at Arrowhead Stadium in December, the boutique’s website saw a surge in traffic.

She brought her father, Scott Swift, and friends to Foxborough, Massachusetts, to watch Kansas City defeat the New England Patriots. Scott Swift traded his Philadelphia Eagles gear for a Chiefs sweatshirt.

Kansas City lost to the Las Vegas Raiders on December 25, 2023, but Kelce said Swift and her family made the day special. On his podcast, he described giving Swift a VHS copy of her favorite football movie.

Returning in the new year

Swift wore a Chiefs varsity jacket when Kansas City played the Cincinnati Bengals, a game the home team won. For her first game of 2024, she braved freezing temperatures and high-fived fans.
