Carrie Star Says Prime Video’s 8-Episode Stephen King Series Gets First Season 2 Update, Exclusive

A New Television Carrie
The series gives viewers more time with Carrie White before prom night than a film adaptation can. Howell plays the teenager as she faces relentless bullying after starting public school and discovers her telekinetic abilities.
Samantha Sloyan plays Carrie’s mother, Margaret. The cast also includes Amber Midthunder, Matthew Lillard, Siena Agudong and Josie Totah. Howell follows earlier portrayals of Carrie by Sissy Spacek and Chloë Grace Moretz.
Season Two Remains Uncertain
At the Newport Beach Film Festival, Howell spoke with Collider’s Aidan Kelley about whether the series might continue. She said Flanagan had many ideas, but the decision rested with Amazon.
A King Story For Television
Carrie was Stephen King’s first published novel and has inspired several screen adaptations. The Prime Video version arrived October 7, giving horror viewers another King adaptation for Halloween. The eight-episode format centers on Carrie’s life before prom night, with Howell leading an ensemble that includes returning collaborators from Flanagan’s earlier work.
