Kansas woman drove truck onto kids’ soccer field, killing two; released without charges

Deadly crash at youth game
Police say a Chevrolet pickup moved from a marked parking space onto a soccer pitch during a Saturday game at a Kansas sports complex. It struck several people, killing Cole Adrian, 6, and Nicholas Schafer, 35; the two McPherson residents were not related.

The driver, whose name police have not made public, was permitted to leave custody while investigators await toxicology findings and a mechanical inspection of the vehicle. She has not been charged.
Police Chief Joe Sullivan said the circumstances are still being examined. He emphasized that the absence of charges so far does not mean the investigation is over, and officials have not said whether charges may follow.
