Bass Vibrations You Can Feel in Your Face: These Sonic Lamb Wireless Headphones

Bass you can feel

Sonic Lamb says its Beyond headphones use “Impulse Drivers” to make bass vibrations perceptible in the listener’s face. The company presents the physical sensation as an extra layer of immersion, synchronized with the audio.

The effect has three settings, named feel, immersive and beast, with intensity increasing in that order. Users can also turn off the Impulse Driver feature.

Noise control and sound

The Beyond headphones have a dynamic driver, but Sonic Lamb does not list its size. That leaves the headphones’ performance across the rest of the frequency range unclear.

Their earcups provide passive noise cancellation, but there is no software-based active noise cancellation. The bass may mask some surrounding sounds, though that is not a substitute for ANC.

Battery life depends on use

Sonic Lamb gives the headphones a maximum battery life of 42 hours when the Impulse Drivers are not in use. The company says playback drops to a maximum of 12 hours in Beast mode.

The bass feature is the Beyond’s main point of difference, but its value is difficult to judge without hearing and feeling it firsthand. The available details do not establish how the headphones sound overall.

  • Three intensity settings are available, and the feature can be switched off.
