Kyiv launches more than 1,000 drones at Russia as blaze hits St Petersburg oil sites

Fires at oil facilities
The attacks set the Petersburg Oil Terminal ablaze and sparked a fire at the city’s Ruchi oil depot on Sunday, according to local governor Alexander Beglov. He said one person died and five others were wounded.
A logistics center owned by Russian retailer Ozon and a data center belonging to local technology company VK were also targeted. Both companies confirmed the strikes.
Russia reports drone interceptions
Russia’s Ministry of Defense said its forces destroyed 1,015 Ukrainian drones. The ministry said the drones were intercepted over 15 Russian regions, Crimea and the Black Sea. In Zaporizhzhia, two apartment buildings, 18 cars and an educational institution were damaged, regional military administration head Mykhailo Semikin said.
Energy attacks and ceasefire claims
Ukraine said Thursday it had resumed attacks on Russian oil facilities after a three-day pause. On Sunday, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Russia had struck Ukraine’s energy, oil and gas sectors 76 times in the week since Donald Trump announced an energy ceasefire.
Zelenskyy wrote on X that Russia had taken no reciprocal steps in response to sanctions relief or agreements. He said pressure on Russia was needed to give peace a chance.
