Rain Hits Final T20 as India, West Indies Denied Thrilling Finale After 2-2 Series Stalemate

A shortened deciding match

The final match at Bengaluru’s M Chinnaswamy Stadium began 1 hour and 45 minutes behind schedule. With the game cut to nine overs per side, India reached 118-5 in 7.4 overs before rain returned.

The umpires abandoned play when conditions made even a five-overs-a-side shootout impossible. The result left the series level at 2-2.

India attack in brief innings

West Indies captain Shai Hope put India in to bat. Ishan Kishan, Sanju Samson and Naman Dhir led the scoring as India made eight fours and seven sixes.

Fans wait through the weather

More than 20,000 fans attended despite the poor weather. The stadium was staging its first international fixture since the October 2024 Test between India and New Zealand. The delayed start and brief burst of play raised hopes of a conclusion, but renewed rain ended any chance of a decisive result.
