Tebas faces call to go after Goebbels comparison as Real Madrid demand resignation of La Liga chief

Tebas criticises club coverage
On Friday, Tebas criticised Real Madrid TV’s coverage of officiating at the club’s matches. He said the approach recalled propaganda methods used by Joseph Goebbels, Nazi Germany’s Minister of Propaganda.
Tebas was responding to articles by two journalists who said he and La Liga were acting against Real Madrid’s interests. The club’s demand for his immediate resignation has added to its dispute with the league chief.
Madrid issues strong rebuke
Real Madrid described Tebas’s comparison to Nazi propaganda as “intolerable and extraordinarily serious.” The club said he had used it to discredit Real Madrid, its management and its television channel. The statement also objected to Tebas drawing on questions, information or opinions from journalists with no connection to the club. Madrid said it should not be held responsible for actions by third parties.
Club joins league committee
Real Madrid’s statement came hours after La Liga confirmed the club would be one of six teams on the league’s Executive Committee this season. The resignation demand deepens the feud between the club and Tebas, even as Madrid takes a place on the committee.
