Hobbs and Whistles owner investigates hack that may have exposed customer data

TFG London, which owns Phase Eight, Hobbs and Whistles, says a cyber-attack affected its websites and some IT systems. It is checking whether customers’ personal or other sensitive information was accessed.

The company’s shops remain open, but some technology services are still unavailable. TFG has temporarily stopped online orders as a precaution, and says some website functions may also be disrupted.

External cybersecurity specialists are helping contain the incident. TFG has notified the relevant UK authorities and says it will update customers as the investigation progresses.

The incident follows a separate attack on online retailer Asos less than a week earlier, in which customer information was accessed. The article also reports a recent attack that disrupted refrigeration in hundreds of French supermarkets.

A cybersecurity executive cited in the article said the attacks underline the risks facing retailers. TFG has not yet established whether its customers’ data was compromised.
