WATCH: Trump announces eligible U.S. children automatically enrolled in Trump accounts

President Donald Trump said the government would create investment accounts for 70 million U.S. children younger than 18. The accounts are intended to invest in stocks.

Parents or legal guardians must claim the accounts through a website or mobile app. The program was included in the 2025 tax overhaul and permits up to $5,000 in annual after-tax contributions.

The government will deposit $1,000 for children born from 2025 through 2028. Trump described the initiative as promoting capitalism.

Trump also defended endorsing Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton, who defeated Republican Senator John Cornyn in the party primary. Paxton now faces Democrat James Talarico in a close Senate race, and Trump said he did not regret his endorsement.

Separately, Trump argued he deserved the Nobel Peace Prize ahead of its announcement. He cited his claimed accomplishments and noted that 2025 recipient María Corina Machado gave him her award; the article also says he launched a war in Iran this year.
