ChatGPT’s ‘Intelligent UI’ update fills its responses with pictures, charts, and buttons

OpenAI is rolling out Intelligent UI, a ChatGPT feature that can add interactive elements such as diagrams, charts, forms and buttons alongside written answers. It is launching with GPT-6.

The company says GPT-6 was trained to decide when visuals are useful and how to present them. One example shows a bicycle diagram with buttons that reveal details about its parts.

ChatGPT can also create visual lessons and simple tools within a conversation. OpenAI examples include Mahjong tile categories, a retirement calculator, a retro game and a bill-splitting tool.

GPT-6 is also intended to improve web searches and deliver partial responses sooner while gathering information. OpenAI says the models are more resistant to efforts to get around their safety training.

The update is beginning worldwide for Plus, Pro, Business and Enterprise subscribers. Go and free users are scheduled to receive it on Thursday, with those tiers using the more efficient GPT-6 Luna model; higher-tier plans get GPT-6 Sol.

Key points

  • Intelligent UI adds interactive visuals and tools directly to ChatGPT conversations.
  • GPT-6 also aims to improve searches, speed up partial answers and resist safety bypass attempts.
  • Paid plans get access first; Go and free tiers are due to follow Thursday with GPT-6 Luna.
